I received the cintiq last night, and it’s amazing! The workflow feels A LOT quicker and more precise. It makes a world of difference and it’s also pretty sweet to have a second monitor setup :D.

Just for reference I did the lineart, flats, and Agrippa / Catella in the top two panels with the bamboo. I did the rest with the cintiq.

The Donation Drive was a big success!!

I’ve already placed the order for the Cintiq 12wx! It looks as if it’s going to arrive sometime this week, I’m so excited (actually the delivery date could be as soon as today, I’m waiting on it as we speak)! I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who donated, the whole process went a lot faster than I expected, and I’m extremely grateful :D. There will be more news on this later, I can’t really say much at the moment as I am still waiting on the delivery.

On that note, I wanted to say that I’m going to hold out on the donation drive for the new computer. I’ve got a project lined up that should earn me enough money to cover it, and I don’t want to start a donation drive unless I really need the help (like with the tablet), however, if you still wish to contribute the help would be very much appreciated! It’s funny, once my tablet broke I had a ton of commissions come in from out of nowhere (where were you all when I had a working intuos!? lol), I have to make sure I have enough time for everything.

This week’s incentive is one of the sketches I’ve done for the replacement header of the website (that I might use, not sure yet), I’m likely going to finish this when I get the cintiq, or design a new one entirely. Let me know what you all think

On that note, as of March 20th 2012, Terra has been online for 3 years! Thanks for all the support over the years everyone, it means so much to us. I was going to put up a free wallpaper on the 20th, but unfortunately my tablet broke before I could finish it. Here’s a preview of what the image would have looked like, I’ll likely finish it once I can get a replacement, then put it up for download soon after that. (I posted this on the last page in the comments, but just thought I’d add it here too for those who missed it).

Also, a big thanks to everyone who has donated so far, we’re nearly 20% of the way there! As I’ve already stated, I’ll try to get some bonus pages up once we get closer to our goal! (Working on them right now :))

My tablet died on me…

Recently my Intuos 4 died, which is the tablet I use for rendering the comic. I’m currently using my Bamboo tablet as a replacement, which gets the job done, but it is a student level product that has limiting results. So, not only will the comic look slightly off, this will also prevent me from completing any commissions.

Why donate?

This brings me to why I hope I can raise funds for replacement equipment. As many of you probably know, webcomics don’t make tons of money, and now that my tablet died on me I know I have to prepare for the future in case anything else breaks down. The money would be used for purchasing a 12 inch Cintiq, a new computer, and an ergonomic keyboard.

The cintiq is amazing, I’ve wanted one since they were introduced, and I believe it would greatly improve my productivity. The tablet allows you to draw directly on screen, which would prove to be a much more natural way to illustrate / paint. As for the new computer, I’ve had my current one for quite a few years now, and I know that getting a replacement is in order. The last thing I want is for my computer to die on me and to have no way to work on the comic / website. Finally, the ergonomic keyboard, as many of you know I have a repetitive stress injury in my left wrist. While it is mostly healed at this point, I’d like to prevent further injury by getting a proper keyboard.

These donations will allow us to replace the current equipment, and keep this comic going. We would greatly appreciate any amount you are willing to give, as it all adds up toward our goal. We will post more info as time goes on, and we will keep you posted with our current situation.
